I asked for the Saffron Barker eyeshadow and highlighter palette for Christmas. See what I got for Christmas here. I liked the look of the palette as the shades are what I usually go for, and I think having a bronzer and highlighter included is so practical as you have everything together. I like the packaging of the palette and it comes with stickers which I wasn’t really bothered about, I just stuck them on because they were there.
The eyeshadows are pigmented and I like all the shades, my favourites being Saffy B and No Limits. The tone of the darker browns are not too warm which I like, but you can make your eyeshadow look warm with the orangey/light brown shade if you’d like. The eyeshadows apply and blend nicely. On the eyes they look exactly like how they look in the pan. My first impression of the makeup look I created was good, but the eyeshadows didn’t last as well as I’d hoped for.
It does annoy me that the black eyeshadow is right above the bronzer shade. I have to be careful that I don’t pick up any on my brush seeing as bronzer brushes are much bigger… but that is not a big deal! I really like the bronzer. It isn’t too pigmented which is good as I can build it up. It blends well and is a good shade for me personally. The highlighter shade is what I always go for. It does need building up if you like your highlighter to be blinding but it is quite shimmery and doesn’t last as long as I would want it to either.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about the palette. I love the packaging, the shades and how practical the palette is. However I am unsure whether £20 for 6 shadows, a highlighter and a bronzer is a fair price or if I am getting what I pay for regards to the average quality. The lasting power left me a bit unsatisfied because a really pretty look can be achieved. I really thought I was going to love this palette but I don’t!
