YSL All Hours Primer Review

YSL isn’t a brand I’m really a fan of. They could be an amazing, but their products do not really excite me and I don’t think what they are about is my kind of thing. However, I watched a video by Holly Boon where she used this primer and her makeup stayed on all day- even with oily skin. As I have normal/combination skin I thought that this would be good for me as I hate touching up and I only get oily on my nose and forehead. I was thinking how good this could be for nights out or hot summer days.

I ordered the YSL All Hours Primer from John Lewis. I have gone onto the website many times ready to purchase but I kept putting it off. This primer costs £30 which is quite a lot for a primer for me. I find that when I buy expensive products I always end up not liking them and did not want to waste another £30. I finally ordered the primer as I have exciting plans to look forward to and I want my makeup to last.

The packaging is average, nothing special but. It is also plastic and does not feel luxurious. That may bug some people it doesn’t really bother me. The lid twists off and you can squeeze the bottle for more product.

The formula is not what I was expecting. It is very runny and white- however when applied to skin there is no colour. It doesn’t feel like much on the skin or like it’s going to do anything.

The first day I used the YSL All Hours primer was for a wedding. I applied my makeup around 11am and it lasted all day. When I got home at midnight my makeup still looked like how it did when I first applied it. I was so shocked. I only powdered a tiny bit as it was so hot and I was getting a bit sweaty haha! On a normal day, I don’t think I would have needed to touch up. I was very impressed because without this primer my makeup would have melted off from the heat and my forehead and nose would be very oily.

I also tested this primer out for 8 hours when I was at work. I was again impressed as I did not need to touch up at all, and the makeup on my nose and forehead was still perfect.

I think this primer is worth the whole £30! I don’t know what I would do without it now! I do not use it everyday as it is pricey, but I am going to use it for when I am out all day, night outs and special occasions. I can’t believe how amazing it actually is. When I use Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray just to be extra, I know my makeup is not going ANYWHERE.

If you have oily skin, or want your makeup to last all day and this is in your price range then I recommend this product. I am so glad I splurged on the YSL All Hours primer. Thanks for reading! Click here to find my recommendation for a good setting powder which will make your makeup last!

Great review! I have really oily skin and I have struggled to find a way to make my makeup last all day. This product sounds great so I may have to try it out x
