Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation Review

If you have dry/normal skin and are looking for a new favourite drugstore foundation, then I have found the one for you. The Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation + hydrating serum claims to have medium to full coverage for radiant glowing skin. It is supposed to have 10 hour wear and feel silky on the skin.

Application: I apply this foundation with my hands then blend it in with a beauty blender. I do this so I can get the most out of the product rather than product sinking into a brush or into a sponge. I haven’t tried this foundation with a brush because a sponge gives me a natural look.

Formula: The first time I pumped out the foundation, I noticed that it is thicker than what I thought. I thought it would be runnier, and I was worried this meant the foundation was going to feel heavy but it doesn’t, which I am happy about. The foundation does feel silky and doesn’t look streaky/patchy.

Shade: I chose the shade 42 bronze beige which I  thought in the shop looks like the perfect shade to match my fake tan. In the swatch it looks like a perfect shade, more yellow toned. It can look a bit pinkish when applied on my skin, but nothing too bad.

Coverage: This foundation is definitely medium to full coverage. It has the potential to be built up to a full coverage, but I think that may have to be done with a brush. I like the coverage it gives as it gives a natural look.

Finish: The foundation leaves your skin looking fresh and flawless. The foundation does look silky like it claims. It doesn’t sink into my lines which is a huge plus. The foundation doesn’t enhance dry patches. I set my face with a matte powder, just because I like my foundation to last all day, but it if you have super dry skin, you could go without powder. Bronzers and highlight sit nicely on the skin once set and there are no changes to the foundation with concealer either.

Lasting power: I apply this foundation before work at 7am, and by 12pm it still looks like I first applied. It does start becoming a bit oily, but it’s not too noticeable. I wear a primer on my nose so that it helps the breaking up on my oily nose. Around 2pm, I do need to blot my t-zone  with a tiny bit of powder and it looks perfect again!

Packaging: The bottle is basic, and the pump and cap is plastic. The pump gives out a good amount of product and it doesn’t feel like it would break etc.

Price: This foundation costs £8.99 which is a fair price. It is cheaper than my favourite L’Oreal foundation, and this is just as good. I will continue to repurchase this.

I will continue to use the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation in my everyday makeup routine. I can trust this foundation to last me all day and look nice on the skin.

If you haven’t tried this foundation, it is worth trying! I think it is an amazing drugstore foundation. Thanks for reading!

I love the sound of this! My Nars Sheer Glow has just ran out, and this seems like a perfect replacement, and much cheaper too. I’m definitely going to pick this one up. Thanks for the review xx

I haven’t used this foundation for a couple of years now but I did love it apart from it not being able to control my oily skin after so many hours. Maybe I should go back to it and try it again – they change formulas and all sorts every now and then x

I do need to set it with powder and touch up throughout the day to stop me from looking oily xx
