I love drugstore makeup. I have chosen a few of my drugstore favourites to show you. Some are new, some are old, but I just wanted to show you what budget friendly products I recommend, and have loved in 2017. There are so many I could show you, but these products are ones that have stood out, and have made it to my everyday makeup drawer. Makeup Revolution has also been my favourite this year, I have post about the best of Makeup Revolution here.
NYX soft matte creams and butter glosses have been my favourite lip products this year. I really don’t like matte liquid lipsticks as they feel so uncomfortable and drying, and matte lipsticks can be a pain sometimes too. But the soft matte creams are a perfect way of having matte lips for me. They don’t dry out my lips, they feel comfortable, are easy to apply and are a perfect on the go size. I love the glosses too. They smell nice, look gorgeous on the lips and feel moisturising. I like putting the butter glosses over matte lipsticks, as I am really into glossy lips now.
Another gloss I’m into at the moment is the Oh My Gloss from Rimmel. They do not feel sticky and look gorgeous on the lips. I love wearing this Rimmel gloss over lipsticks too. I need to get more colours of this lipgloss! I hope glossy lips are more popular in 2018.
Eyebrow pomades were really on trend. I tried some from the drugstore as I didn’t think I needed the popular ABH pomade. The Makeup Revolution pomade was okay, but the freedom one is the best from the drugstore in my opinion. I like the colour of the pomade, the blonde shade is quite ashy which is perfect for my brows. The product is easy to create shape with, and to fill in sparse areas. I like how the product doesn’t build up in the brows and lasts a long time.
I have tried a few different drugstore foundations in 2017. NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat, L’Oreal Total Cover, L’Oreal Infallible, Rimmel breathable foundation. But the best new drugstore foundation I’ve used is the Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage foundation. The foundation really is full coverage. It lasts a long time and makes the skin look flawless. I also found it works well when I mix it with other foundations to give a fuller coverage. I have a full review here.
Essence lip liners are honestly incredible. They are the best budget lip liners. They have so many colours which is perfect, as you can find a liner for any lipstick! I love their nude shades which glide on easy, and they are even perfect on their own with just a lipgloss over the top! They have retractable pencils too which are so handy.
At the beginning of the year, I was wearing a high end mascara, but then at midday I’d notice black under my eyes which wasn’t pretty. It was super annoying. I decided in the end to get a waterproof mascara as, I also have runny eyes which was also causing black under my eyes. The L’Oreal Million Lashes in waterproof is amazing and saved the problem! I love the way this mascara makes my lashes look. Not only does the mascara add volume and thickness, it stays on all day and I never have to worry when my eyes run, or when I’m crying of laughter!
I have only just tried out one of the L’Oreal lip paints, but it had to be included in this post. They are creamy, smooth and look nice on the lips. The applicator allows me to apply the lipstick easily, and the formula feels comfortable on the lips.
I’ve saved the best till last! I picked up the Nip+Fab primer water on a whim. I use this by spraying it over my completed makeup look. It makes my face look fresh and less powdery. This doesn’t effect my makeup, and my makeup lasts the same maybe a bit longer! I do get carried away and forget I’m not using a mist, and completely soak myself! But, it dries down quickly. I also use this to wet my brushes when picking up a glittery eyeshadow. I love this stuff and I’m so glad I found it in the drugstore!
So there are my drugstore favourites. What drugstore products have you been loving in 2017?
