My Mum treated me to a spa weekend for my 21st birthday. I stayed the night at a spa in Essex for the night with my mum, auntie, nan and great auntie. I had an amazing weekend, and it was actually my first ever spa weekend.
We arrived at 1pm and left our bags in a room behind the reception. Then we headed to the dining room for afternoon tea. The food was so tasty and the tea was of course amazing, you can’t beat English breakfast tea! We were allowed to change what sandwiches we wanted as the sandwiches they had to offer wasn’t to everyones taste e.g. we asked for ham sandwiches without mustard, and to replace salmon with more egg sandwiches… they didn’t mind, and at the end of the day not everyones taste buds are the same!
We then checked in at 2 and went to our rooms to get ready for the spa. We didn’t stay in the main hotel, they put us in a building around the corner. I thought it was a bit strange, but in the end I loved staying in a new built area, and the spa was only a couple of steps away! The rooms were very clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and even though our room was right by the bar, it closes at 11 and we were drinking there anyway, and then it was quiet. However, if I was trying to relax and go to sleep early, I’d be a bit annoyed.
Me, my mum and my auntie went in the pool and jacuzzi first whilst my nan and great auntie had their treatment. It was dark in the pool room with small lights on the floor which made it so relaxing. We went at the good time as no one was around, it was a quiet day. For treatments, I had a relaxing massage and a facial. They asked about any medical conditions and they take their time to know where you may have any pain, so they can avoid the area. The young women who carried out my treatments was nice and I felt comfortable.
Afterwards we had the most amazing showers in our rooms and got ready for dinner. Dinner was at 8pm which I didn’t like personally as I hate eating dinner late, but 7 would have been a bit too close between our spa experience and getting ready. We didn’t have a pleasant dinner time, but we laugh about it now! We were starving and had been waiting ages for food, and when they were bringing out the mains they forgot my aunties food. The waitresses were really rude but we got free champagne and glasses of baileys out of it lol!
We went for breakfast around 9. It was a freezing cold day, so it was annoying how we had to walk outside to get back to the dining hall. It would have been so annoying if it was raining! The breakfast was okay, there was hot foods, cereals, fruit, toast and tea of course!
Apart from the dinner drama I had a great time at Orsett Hall.
Have you been to any nice spa’s recently?
